Laurayne Lucky – Executive Director

Laurayne Lucky is the Executive Director of the Caribbean Water and Wastewater Association (CWWA). Laurayne became Executive Director in July 2023. She served as a member of CWWA’s Board over the period 2018 to 2020 and the National Section Chair of her home country from 2017 to 2018.

Prior to being engaged at the CWWA, Ms. Lucky worked within the Water and Wastewater Sector, at the Water and Sewerage Authority of Trinidad and Tobago. During her sixteen-year career at the national Water Utility, she gained experience in Change Management, Strategic Planning, Project Management, Drought Planning and Management, Climate Resilience, Stakeholder Collaboration and Integrated Water Resources Management.

Ms. Lucky majored in Geology at the Bachelor’s level and International Trade and Commerce at the Post Graduate level. She possesses training in a range of various sector related areas including: Climate Information for Improved Water Management, Integrated and Adaptive Water Resources Planning, Management and Governance, Public-Private Partnerships (PPP): Using PPPs To Deliver Improved Services, Water Planning and Policy for Climate Variability and Change, and Data Management and Analytics.

Ms. Lucky also has a passion for sustainable development, water security, disaster risk reduction and advancing appropriate waste management within the region. While she is aware that much of the work still resides at the policy level, she notes that we should also embrace community-based initiatives aimed at progressing national objectives as well as the urgent need for behavioural change among stakeholders.
