Internship Summary:
As a Communications Intern in WRI’s Water Program, you will support the Program’s various communications efforts. Reporting to the Communications Manager, Water, you will help develop and implement outreach strategies for publications; write and edit blogs; craft messages for social media, email newsletters, talking points, and presentations; distill technical research into compelling, actionable messages to influence key decision-makers; and coordinate events such as workshops, launch convenings, and webinars. An internship with WRI’s Water Program provides access to a global team of water experts, mentorship opportunities, and a unique inside view of WRI. As a communications intern, you will work closely with WRI’s Core Communications team and collaborate with a global network of communications and engagement professionals. Preference will be given to students majoring in Journalism, Communications, English, Environmental Science, and other relevant fields. Internship Learning Outcomes:

Self-starter, ability to work independently as well as part of a team Strong written and verbal communications skills Computer skills (Microsoft Office Suite, familiarity with Canva, social media platforms, and project management tools is a bonus) Interest in global water issues and/or communications Preference will be given to students majoring in Journalism, Communications, English, Environmental Science, Environmental Policy, and other relevant fields Comfortable interning remotely.
Compensation
The pay range for this internship opportunity is between $16-20/hour, commensurate with qualifications.
Duration and Location
This is a part-time (10 hours per week), 3-months internship with flexible start and end dates based on the student’s availability and need for the project.
This is a remote-based internship with the option to work out of the Washington D.C. office once it reopens.
WRI will provide a laptop for the duration of your internship.
