Executive Chairman, Belize Water Services Ltd.
Cornelio Acosta serves as the Executive Chairman of Belize Water Services Ltd. (BWS), where he leads the strategic direction and governance of Belize’s national water and wastewater utility. With a strong commitment to sustainable development and regional cooperation, he has become a key figure in advancing water security and utility resilience across the Caribbean and Central America.
Cornelio is Belize’s representative in the Foro Centroamericano y República Dominicana de Agua Potable y Saneamiento (FOCARD-APS), working alongside sector leaders to promote integrated water resource management and cross-border collaboration. He also holds the position of Private Sector Director on the Board of the Caribbean Water and Wastewater Association (CWWA), contributing to policy development, innovation, and capacity building throughout the Caribbean water sector.
In his role as a Caribbean Utility Representative on the Caribbean Water Utility Insurance Collective Management Committee, Cornelio supports the design and oversight of regional insurance mechanisms that strengthen the financial resilience of utilities. He is also a member of the Group of 300 Water Leaders, a global network dedicated to advancing leadership and sustainable practices in the water industry.
Academically, Mr. Acosta holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) with a concentration in Finance and is currently pursuing a Doctorate in Business Administration at the Geneva Business School.
He is married and the proud father of two children. His leadership is grounded in public service, sound financial management, and a forward-looking vision for equitable, reliable, and climate-resilient water services.
